.12 Best Restaurants in Mount Pleasant - Eater Carolinas

All of them agreed it was the best they had ever had outside of Scotland! They have a full bar with many specialty cocktails available. We were seated promptly and the service was exceptional! Good place for a quick bite. My client has an awesome burger, I had the fish and chips. Slide 1 of 3. Seafood restaurant. Show 6 more. Creatively flavored grits accompany the surf 'n' turf at this area-sourced Southern specialist.

Grits is a quintessential South Carolina dish popular among locals and out-of-towners alike. In the capable hands of a creative chef, the humble grits transforms into a delectable gourmet treat. She was so easy to work with and kept us up to date on seasonal menu changes throughout our planning. Wonderful food, fast and pleasant service. We shared the grits flight and each had an entree: fried chicken, pork chop and one of the chef selections.

Fried chicken was crispy and juicy! Pork chop was so well flavored, and the waiter had great suggestions when navigating the chef selections. Great ambience and overall worth every penny. I looked up this place based on a recommendation and was enamored by the menu. The food looked really good. Went to make a reservation, and there was one spot left at p. Upon arrival, people were lined up at the door, waiting to get in.

The hostess seated me at the exact reservation time. Hailey was my waitress. She made suggestions and let me know what the restaurants popular dishes were. Jake, I believe he was the manager, came by several times to ensure I was enjoying my experience. Both were absolutely professional and helped to make me enjoy everything. Now to the best part If I can sum it up quickly Absolutely amazing.

Kudos to the chef! You have to experience it yourself. The Grit sampler includes sweet and savory. The salmon dish just melts in your mouth. The fried chicken with hot honey was scrumptious. I can't wait to come back to Charleston. They will most certainly see me again.

A long wait more than an hour! The grits and coffee are some of the best I've had in a long time. This is worth a visit.

But make a reservation. Mentioned on 3 lists. By Lindsay C. The restaurant boasts the largest selection of oysters in South Carolina, and Chef Nico Romo has a relationship with each and every farm that supplies their unique and delicious mollusks…. If you like oysters and french cuisine, this is your spot!!!. Super fresh seafood, amazing flavors.

We tried all 9 different oysters, fried shrimp and the full Nico is truly delicious. A combination of seafood and French cuisine? Yes please!

The space is beautiful, the service is excellent, and most importantly, the food is fantastic! They also have a great wine list. Make reservations in advance - it's very popular! Great staff, they always showed up right when needed. Opened with oysters that were the freshest. The apps, mains and deserts were well prepared, check our pictures. We enjoyed early eating. We'll be back often, they take care of you. Overall: For a higher-end seafood experience, it doesn't get much better than this.

The good: Everything we had was incredible. Started with the oysters, which were fresh and paired with the standards as well as a very hot house-made hot sauce.

Also had the baked cheese, which tasted like it was straight from France - so many different flavors of honey, garlic, and pine nuts on baked goodness. Our favorite plate was the bacon clams, which were out of this world.

Generous chunks of bacon, peppers, and shelled clams are steeped in a delicious broth, and were paired with a crispy-yet-chewy baguette to soak it all up. To top off the evening, we were given a gratis scoop of their decadent and delicious dark chocolate ice cream for my wife's birthday.

Heck, even the wine was great. We'll be coming back for sure! The not-so-good: Honestly, I can't think of anything. It was an incredible meal all around. Southwestern restaurant US. Refined Southwestern food served in bustling cozy environs with an upbeat bar. A welcome piece of culinary diversity in the Mt. Pleasant dining scene, Red Drum takes on the gastropub concept in its own unique way, by combining local lowcountry ingredients with a Southwestern style set of menu offerings.

The food selection is seasonal, and at Red Drum they believe that each dish has its perfect partner; hence they boast an outstanding wine selection ranging from accessible samples to old rarities. The salmon and corn pudding were amazing. Enjoyed the atmosphere during my work dinner. Good happy hour.

Way overpriced for what you get. Fried shrimp was really good but the oil needed to be changed. The best thing we ordered was the potato augratin. We used to love this place, not anymore unfortunately. I showed manager my resy confirmation and he said nothing at all. Not an apology or anything. It was disappointing! Does it meet the discerning taste of the locals?. Small pizza with pepperoni under the cheese and the pizza sauce on top. Pepperoni, bacon, italian sausage, ham, and ground beef.

Basil, roasted garlic, and tomatoes, with asiago cheese and oregano sprinkled on top. Visiting family from a Detroit suburb and wanted to get some good, non-chain local pizza while in Mt.

Did a Google local search for pizza near me and sorted the choices by highest rated. Happy to see "Detroit style pizza" in the name of this restaurant. Highly rated reviews and let me tell you they lived up to the hype! We ordered the Mediterranean and the BLT specialty pizzas.

They were absolutely fresh and delicious with a perfectly crispy crust without being overly greasy. All of us- Michiganders and the locals alike; loved this pizza.

Our family that lives there will be ordering again in the future and we will be sure to stop by on our next visit. We did take out but I popped into the dining area which was absolutely spotless and charming and full of Detroit, Michigan memorabilia. Try this place for sure! Ordered from this place couple of times and I absolutely love it. They have some of the best dough in the business. They melt the cheese down on the side to perfection.

Not cheap with the topping or the cheese. I recommend to any pizza lover out there. I love pizza. The service was great and very tentative to our table.

He refilled our drinks and visited frequently and was polite. We had Garlic Cheese Bread for an appetizer. We got 2 large Pizzas. Our 2nd pizza was the Meat Deluxe I enjoyed this one a lot. The pizzas are rectangle and the sauce is drizzled on the the toppings instead of in between the dough and topping. Great food, ambiance and service. If you are in Mt. Pleasant wanting pizza check them out. All travel reservations in 1 place Never dig through your emails again — access all your flights, lodging, and any reservations in 1 place.

Takeout Restaurant. The wait is totally worth it. One of the best experiences in Charleston! Went for a lunch and had to wait a bit more than an hour to get seated. Needless to say that the place was packed and what can I say, for a reason!

We enjoyed the seafood selection including the oysters on that day a selection of 8 different ones from the east coast , ceviche and the tuna burger, which was absolutely amazing.

We finished with the key lime pie, which was excellent and well balanced. The service and the drinks were also quite nice and we enjoyed seating in the back courtyard.

The food taste and quality was quite delicious but the quantity was not as good for the steep price. Nonetheless, we appreciate our very kind and attentive server. We came in at around ish so we didn't have to wait in a line at all. We got the lobster roll nothing terribly out of the ordinary, comparable to other places , the sampler very fresh , the swordfish pastrami quite excellent, very different taste , pork taco pretty good.

We so had the pear manhattan and the margarita for drinks which were pretty decent. Overall, a decent place to try out! Definitely a popular spot on King Street.

Not sure if locals would dine here but it's very popular among tourists for sure. This was actually my first formal meal in Charleston so I had high expectations after reading the reviews. Overall I would say it meets the expectations but nothing was like "out of the world good" neither, hence a 4 star rating.

We are a party of 2 so were able to get seating by the bar very quickly. If you are a larger group, I think making reservations is the way to go.

For the most part, the portions are very small, which is not surprising for fine dining. So budget accordingly if you need to get full. We had a dozen of oysters from 3 origins chef's choice , it's interesting that the ones from North Carolina were the ones I liked the least Very small and not as tasty as the rests. We also ordered chicken mushroom, ceviche, fish taco, salads, and crudo of the day.

I would say I really like the crudo of the day. It has this curry flavor which was surprising. Wife said the fish taco was also very good. The mushroom does taste like chicken which is pretty funny. Is this the best place in town for oysters? I don't know because I have nothing else to reference to locally but it's a solid choice for a nice meal as a tourist. Mentioned on 2 lists. Show 2 more.

They have a large, outdoor deck as well as a small rooftop you are allowed to bring your drinks to for an even better view. Their cuisine is best described as Southern, and the portions are big. All the food was delicious and seafood plates were plentiful. The fried green tomato appetizer was extra yummy.

Also tried the chocolate chip skittle cookie Yum yum yum!!! The outside seating area is great except for the gnats. Loved the shrimp and grits. The fried green tomatoes brought back some real good memories. Wish the outside chairs were more comfortable for a bigger sized person. Other than that the service was excellent! Every one is really friendly. You guys have an awesome location! The experience of being on the waterfront and watching the dolphins and pelicans is extraordinary!

I just wish I could say the same about the food. Had heard such great reviews but we were underwhelmed. Each dish we tried, we were left wanting for more :. The food was some of the best in the area and the location is perfect. The tacos and fish and chips were all excellent. This place is always busy so get in as early as you can or make a reservation.

There were dolphins in the bay while we were there which made it extra special. The food service was very fast even though the place was completely full of people! Barbecue restaurant. The gist: Since the highly anticipated barbecue joint opened in , locals and visitors alike have flocked here for its Texas-style meats, like buttery smoked beef brisket and the Hot Guts sausage.

Lewis is perfectly suited to takeout because meat is served by the pound and perfect for sharing. This spot exceeds the hype. The food: The number one thing you absolutely must get at Lewis is the brisket. The pork--awesome. The sausage--amazing. The sides--so good. There is a lot of seating, but most of it being outside. Parking is limited. Staff efficient but not necessarily overly friendly, but that didn't deter from a great overall experience.

Probably the best BBQ I've ever had. We were in town for a week and ate at Lewis BBQ twice. Definitely recommend. We went on a Friday at around 4pm before the dinner rush. It was a great time to go. It wasn't served when I visited. But I was happy with what the two of us split. I'm pretty sure I used to be a T-Rex in my past life, so that makes it hard for me not to over eat during every visit.

The menu selection aligns with most serious barbecue spots. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is on gravel so wheelchair access will require some energy. The bathrooms have been consistently clean on my more than 10 visits.

Not a beer drinker but it's served here and it seems like people enjoy it. Fountain drinks are also available. There's limited parking in the restaurant parking lot but there's additional parking a very short walk away from the restaurant. Timing matters here, call to get a feel for how long a wait you might have. Cold beer and fresh seafood are a combo that rarely disappoints.

In town on a business trip and this place was recommended to us by the locals. It did not disappoint! The atmosphere was fun, friendly, and a great location! We had to wait about 20 minutes to get seated but it was worth the wait. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations. It was the perfect way to sample different types of shrimp. We also tried the Hershey Bar Pie in a Jar and it was phenomenal.

If we ever find ourselves in the Charleston area again this will be our go-go spot! Arrived early on a Saturday afternoon 4pm to put our name on the list for dinner for a party of 8. They don't take reservations. Parking is awful. No available spots in the Reds parking area. While waiting, we enjoyed the views, some outdoor seating and a walkway on both sides of the creek.

Boat parking available. We were seated by about pm outside. Nice weather with a jacket. Looked like a mix of locals and tourists. Seafood loaded menu. Service was great! Our waitress was very attentive and kept our drinks filled.

The place was packed and even though we were a larger party, she was great. The food was good, some dishes had "smaller" portions. Also tried the crab queso and it was really good. Would order again. Beef nachos were what you would expect. Grilled seafood was good. Quickly got seats around the bar with a good view of the water.

Saw some dolphins while enjoying tasty food and drink. Try a bucket cocktail - sunburned tourist and voodoo were good! The fried seafood platter and seafood nachos were also delish. But be sure to make a reservation in advance because the place fills up fast. What a way to be greeted when entering. Lots of staff and owner giving a warm welcome.

Make sure to make reservations in advance. We got lucky to get in same day. Food was great. Service was excellent. Steaks were perfect.

Dry aged ribeye was the most flavorful steak I've ever had. I've had dessert tray presentations but not a steak cut presentation. Highly recommend. I went to Halls for my anniversary. I was early for my reservation and despite being very busy, I was quickly accommodated. The manager was fantastic and toasted our anniversary. The wait staff was very attentive and very knowledgeable. The waiter answered all our questions and made some very fantastic recommendations.

The food was fantastic. The food is expensive, but it is worth every single penny. The value is there for the price. The meal was overall fantastic and so was the service. Do your mouth a favor and eat here. Very nice place to dine. For me it was about the customer service. The owner or head manager and assistant manager welcomed us several times and sincerely wanted us to have a great experience.

The two team waiter team was phenomenal! And the live music. Only in the bar area. We had field green salad, salmon, fried green tomatoes, and the shrimp and grits, and chocolate cake. Everything was outstanding. A MUST try. Perfect for road trips See time and distance between places, and optimize your route to get the most of your day. Fried chicken takeaway. A savory staple of the South, grits have been a part of Lowcountry cuisine since the sixteenth century.

Employees are exceptionally nice and helpful. They know their menu well, and made great recommendations. My favorite is the BLT Signature Bowl which is just amazing -- an explosion of wonderful flavors and textures. Lastly, their Sweet Peach Tea is always great! They are very accommodating, and will split your meal and serve it in two bowls by request. LOVE this place! We were told they are within a few weeks of opening another Grit Counter in North Charleston.

I understand it is located across the street from the box office entrance to the North Charleston Coliseum. The side of fried pickles were very generous and delicious. The salsa Verde was amazing and the smoked Gouda grits were everything I thought they would be fantastic. The bacon jam was super sweet and overpowered the grits. The smoked jalapeno gravy was barely present and didn't add anything to the dish.

The roasted corn was not roasted at all. The hot chicken had a great breading and crunch to it. All in all I loved it. I'll definitely come back! We stopped in for a quick lunch. I ordered the Harvest bowl, it was really good and so was the service. I will definitely be back again because I would like to try more on the menu! British restaurant. After moving to North Charleston three years later, adding a lot more seating, and expanding its menu, the restaurant still feels like a proper English-style fish and chippery.

First time here. Cool atmosphere. Staff are awesome! Food was out of this world! Steak pie was phenomenal. Fish was as well. Triple kudos to this place! Can't wait to come back. The tartar sauce made it even better. Fish was fried to Golden Goodness and the chips were a nice touch. The staff was friendly and took a minute to explain the ordering process. I would highly recommend you order yours today. Catering food and drink supplier. Show 7 more. Every bit of produce served at the restaurant is locally sourced and supports sustainable, healthy farming.

But with a 20 person group all ordering different things, not one dish was below amazing!. The ingredients are fresh and Living up to its name, Five Loaves knows how to do bread and delicious sandwiches.

My favorite is the vegetarian Portobello Goat Cheese Burger which has the perfect crispness of a falafel with a creamy umami taste. Excellent service too! I have always enjoyed the quality of the food at five loaves, and always felt satisfied when I left. But this time, at lunch on a weekday, I took the servers suggestion of trying the Reuben sandwich, and found it to be wanting in every regard.

And there was no noticeable dressing, the sauerkraut had little bite, And the rye bread was just as unremarkable as everything else.

There were a lot of rave reviews for this place so we thought we'd go check it out. To us, it was fine but not great. The chorizo hash was kind of dry and the chorizo was not anything to write home about. And they also did not serve the eggs runny, so they didn't coat the rest of the food which is always the best part of any hash. The sausage and cheese buttermilk biscuit sandwich, which was an accommodation substituting sausage for eggs, was quite good. The salad with goat cheese was very fresh and nice.

Overall not bad. Very friendly service and kid-friendly. Indoor seating only. My partner and I had a wonderful experience at La Pizzeria in Charleston last night. The Margherita pizza was so delicious and perfect!. Really great casual My husband and I were in the mood for Italian so we decided to try la pizzeria. Pleasant surprise it was awesome!

Only thing was the bruschetta was very salty to me but my husband loved it! Don't sleep on la pizzeria. We had the spaghetti meatball as well and a cup of espresso. Came for dinner with a friend, and it did not disappoint. Very authentic Italian food in Mt pleasant. My friend and I are both from NJ, and we both agreed it was delicious. Tim, our server, made some excellent recommendations. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming.

We chatted with the owner, a sweet lady from Italy. We ordered two pizzas to split and a salad. We enjoyed every bite. Definitely will be back. The service was great. They are Italian folks running it, with imported ingredients that make the food feel authentic to Italy. The pizza was magnificent, along with the chicken parm and the calzone.

Slide 1 of 2. The food: Make a full round and try to get the best from each station. Workshop is a fancy food court that serves drinks and food from a variety of local businesses. It's a great place to hang out during the day, and the vendors change up so there's always something different to try. Collaborate with friends in real time Plan along with your friends with live syncing and collaborative editing.

This place is pricey but entirely worth it! The waiter was what you expect of a Southern restaurant; charming, nice, and comfortable to talk to. My ribeye was perfect. Order the bread! Seriously, order the bread. It is so good. I ate all. I ate both appetizers before my crab cakes came. It was so flavorful. And the crispy coating is a perfect balance of goodness, texture, and flavor! The customer service was great! I was greeted as soon as I walked in, I was acknowledged as I walked out, and during my visit my waitress was so attentive and kind.

Highly recommend! See pictures! Did not disappoint. We have Burtons back home in Charlotte, decided to eat here because of their gluten free menu. Burger was absolutely perfect!

The Cajun chicken dip is just spot on,! Wife had Hadock fish sandwich, finished off the dinner with gluten free 7 layer chocolate cake!! Breakfast restaurant. Would highly recommend going. The food is delicious and it is very clean. The owner and chef are amazing! The food is super fresh and they were very knowledgeable about the gluten free options! I will definitely be going back! Great tasting food, healthy, and affordable! Sena cafe is my go to place! Perfect for a quick cup of coffee, a lunch date, or meeting up with friends and catching up!

Such a great staff and the atmosphere is the best ever. Lobster roll and mozzarella pesto panini are delicious. We come here often. Coffee is always great and they have a great outdoor seating area!

With welcoming indoor and outdoor seating the stunning views over the fish boats and the vibrant port are surely unbeatable. This restaurant is known for being one of the most sophisticated spots on Shem Creek. Guests can enjoy a variety of freshly caught seafood and steak.

We had a reservation for lunch and had a lovely experience! The staff is friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and even the fried items weren't too heavy. You have a wonderful view of Shem Creek and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. The menu has enough items that our larger party all found something, but wasn't overwhelming. I definitely recommend Waters Edge! Dined at Waters Edge for a birthday dinner with 15 people.

I understand the server may have been overwhelmed dealing with a fairly large party with many requests and also waiting other tables, so it was no big deal and nothing to make a fuss about… the food was just okay. Several items were bland and lacked seasoning and flavor, and the portions did not correlate with menu prices.

We paid dinner prices for lunch sized items. When it came time for the cake to be cut, the waitress offered to cut the birthday cake and package them into small to go boxes. Beautiful view. We saw dolphins in the water as we ate. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly.

Don't forget to let them know you parked in the lot, they cancel your payment so it's free! They mark gluten free options on the menu which is helpful. I made the mistake of not securing a reservation for Valentine's Day. When I called, of course they were booked, but the hostess was kind enough to tell me that the bar had 12 seats, and they opened at with 1st come, 1st serve.

We showed up at and got a seat at the bar. Tate was our bartender, did a fantastic job with our drinks, and made us feel at home.

He was busy but made sure we had what we needed, as well kept our drink full. There was plenty of parking with handicap parking available. The outside appearance was nice, and the landscape was kept up nice.

The interior was clean as well as the bathrooms. Glasses, plates, and silverware were all clean. The food was phenomenal!! I had Beef Tartare and Duck Breast both for the first time and was amazingly delicious. I will be back, and I do recommend this restaurant. Thanks for the great first-time experience. Our server Israel was attentive, informative and kind! Our dinner was perfection, out of this world amazing! Love that we are local and live 10 mins away!

Literally loved everything. The wine, the oysters, the steak Omggggg the strip steak the company love my husband still 17 years later : all simply outstanding My husband loved his pasta also! Best steak in Charleston I promise! Food was the best we've had in quite a while from the shrimp appetizer to the apple crisp desert. The service was perfect seriously.

Christa, our wonderful energetic partner assigned to our table, made sure we always had what we needed without our feeling the slightest bit rushed even though the restaurant was full. Support staff was also VERY attentive, efficient and welcoming. Again, without our feeling rushed.

Delightful experience. Highly recommended. Mexican restaurant. Great food and the owners are even better than the food. It is our second time eating here when we visit from Myrtle Beach and the food is consistently excellent.

Their food is authentic and delicious. The service was great and we were served quickly. We were able to meet the owners who were wonderful people. Sadly they lost their teenage son who was a very talented athlete. They started a foundation to honor his memory and life. They gave our boys some hats from their foundation that you see below. We had an incredible lunch and a beautiful moment with them and our boys. Thank you and God bless.

We will be back every time we are in town. Great little hole in the wall spot! The chips were heavenly! The teenagers that are employed here are well mannered and attentive. The Sergio burrito is absolutely top notch! Minus one star because as a fat American i was a bit upset to not get rice atleast with my burrito.

The restaurant is small and the kitchen is even smaller, but it puts out big flavors like shrimp and scallop risotto with lobster cream or rigatoni bolognese.
